st fagans jpgHere at Pride Cymru, we celebrate painting with all the colours of the rainbow! This summer, we partnered with St Fagans Museum and local artist Megan Jones to launch a colouring activity that celebrated diversity and inclusion in Wales.

The activity was open to all ages and abilities, and allowed members of the public to truly express themselves in a piece of art that is now being displayed prominently and proudly at St Fagans Museum.

Our partner artist, Megan Jones, created several outline drawings that were inspired by Welsh culture and the diversity of our community. In order to complete her piece of art, she asked for inspiration from members of the public to colour in the gaps.

Using a selection of the completed drawings and injecting her own artistic style, Megan designed the final piece and unveiled the artwork at St Fagans Museum in time for Pride Cymru Week.

Delyth Evans, Family Manager at Pride Cymru, said: ‘We’re incredibly proud to partner with St Fagans Museum and Megan for this art activity. At Pride Cymru we are committed to campaigning for equality and acceptance in our communities. We believe that visibility of positive representation from a young age is essential to eradicate discrimination from our society.

“That’s why family events and activities are crucial to achieve Pride Cymru’s mission. This activity not only allowed members of the public to exercise their creativity and express themselves, but was also a celebration of the kind of country we strive to be a part of – a diverse and inclusive Wales.”

You can see the artwork for yourself at St Fagans Museum during Pride Cymru Week, 23rd – 29th August. While the annual Price Cymru festival is unable to take place this year due to the uncertainty around Covid-19 restrictions, we are celebrating the occasion with a schedule of online activities and panel discussions.
